Why did I stop using the bike, and started using metro rail again:

-

 Metro train is a very efficient transport mode in large cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai etc. I used to take Metro rail to avoid the traffic and it was very easy and comfortable travel to office. In order to move to and fro to office and metro station it takes an average of 2-3 kms regular walk everyday.


After few months I thought of using a bike. I did travel by bike completely for 1 month, and did not use Metro rail that particular month.


I had a sense that I am not walking anymore, as completely I was dependent on bike. One fine day I received the Google activity report and I was looking at the Google maps report of my daily routine. In that report I was shocked to see that I had walked only for 3 kms in one entire month, whereas earlier month when I commuted in metro, I used to walk an average 3 km per day.


I was in Utter shock to see the Google timeline report. My one day average walk had become one month average. I decided to get back to metro rail once again and started exploring the health aspects of walking. And you will be shocked to see the expected average walk and the current walk which we do in our daily life.


How much should a person walk in a day?

If you’re one of the millions who participate in a quest to hit the commonly recommended 10,000 steps-a-day goal, your efforts won’t go unrewarded. Walking 10,000 steps is roughly equivalent to covering approximately 8 kilometers [Mayoclinic].


How does the walk helps?

Regular brisk walking can help you to maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat. Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes. Improve cardiovascular fitness (Mayoclinic). 


Does walking help your skin?


Walking, as a gentle yet effective form of exercise, can also have surprising benefits for your skin. By promoting blood circulation, a regular walking regimen ensures that your skin receives a nourishing supply of oxygen and nutrients (nakinskincare).
