Coping with stress:

Coping with stress:      I tell you to run an imagination into your mind; you have done a research and you are going to submit the paper in the conference tomorrow. How do you organize yourself? You get nervous, added with little fear. This stress will always remind you that you have to organize all the documents/slides the previous day itself; stress will help you to be at the venue the right time, at the total it keeps you very much attentive. Thus this is a positive stress, as it helps you to be attentive and responsible. It works best in a positive manner if you manage this at its best. And now we will discuss about the difference between positive stress and negative stress. The negative stress is commonly known and called as stress; the positive stress is called as ‘‘Eustress’’.      Eustress is a term coined by a person called, Hans Selye , who is endocrinologist (branch of biology and medicine) . The word eustress consists of two parts. The prefix eu- derives from the

Coping with Emotion.

Emotions:       Have you ever observed some of the situations occur in our lives?      Say, you are walking on a road; suddenly a biker comes and lightly hits you, so that your dress gets dusty. How do you react? Shout at him or physically hit him or you keep passive and just walk on the road. Suppose if you beat the biker, you did not have the intention or even think of beating the person, but why did you beat? It is all sudden, because there is always an internal action and reaction process which takes place between our hearts, mind and physical body, which we do not see. Thus in the same kind, emotions also do work within our body and mind. Emotions take many faces as per the situation like, Anger predisposes us to defense or fighting and Fear predisposes us to flight (run away) or fight.      What is Emotion?      Emotions are a complex state of feeling that results in physical and psychological changes that influence our behavior. And Emotional intelligence (EI/EQ) te

Empathy

Before we begin, let us try to revise and re-connect to our previous skills, self-awareness, communication, interpersonal relationship and now will connect these three skills with Empathy.      Have you ever experienced a situation when someone in your neighborhood get sick and hospitalized. If yes, then don’t we see categories of people, someone just telling to himself sad, someone telephones the patient’s family member or patient himself and gets the health situation checked, someone visiting patient in person, and the extreme someone visits the hospital and be there concerned till the patient is back home good. Now let us question to ourselves, what made this differentiation. The differentiation is all about the extent of sympathy and empathy. And again this depends upon our bonding with the person/situation, moral values, and interpersonal relationship and so on.      Empathy is the experience of understanding another person's condition from their perspective.

Interpersonal Relationship-IR

Interpersonal relationship (IR) refers to the relationship between two or more people. In normal life the IR does occur in friendship, family, work life and social interactions. The IR is stressed a lot in the today’s world, due to the changes in the work culture. As we can see the team work is stressed a lot in the current corporate preferences. When an individual works in a team, he is accountable to himself as well as team, for all his behaviors and results.      Like a famous Leadership debate called ‘Leaders are born or Leaders are made’, it is now the need of an hour to work on the possibilities and probabilities, on how to mold the leaders as well as players of the team. A set of 3 reactions such as Assertive, Passive and Aggressive has a lot of impact on the interpersonal relationship (IR). It is very important to be Assertive ( Assertiveness is the ability to express yourself openly and honestly while also reflecting a genuine concern for others) in order to win al

Communication:

Communication is derived from the Latin word ' commūnicāre' which means 'to share'. Every living species do communicate, like animals and even plants. Plants do communicate for their growth process internally. Like wise dogs do bark to protect their owners from uncertainties. A just born cries as a communication technique to inform the care takers, that its hungry or sick. And a company uses communication to market its products, and a professor uses communication to impart the knowledge.      In simple words, Communication is a process of passing of information from one source to the other. The simple 3 steps of communication are Thought, Encoding and Decoding. The broad category of the communication styles are verbal, body language, facial expression, gesture and so on. The important factor of the better communication is, being aware and conscious of ourselves and the things about which it is being communicated. The betterment of communication requires aware
