The art of building a successful and collaborative team:

-  Lindred Greer , an associate professor of organizational behavior at Stanford Graduate School of Business says, a creative and successful team should have members that have different ways of thinking, different backgrounds and styles of work, and different expertise,". Further she comments, "Bring optimists and pessimists together; pair risk-takers with risk-avoiders. In other words, design a team around complementary but distinct attitudes and strengths." - The leader's and followers' vision and mission should be aligned. For this, every team should take part in an orientation in which goals are stated explicitly, benchmarks are established, and responsibilities of each team member are made clear. - For smooth functioning of the team, it's important for a leader to be well informed about happenings in the team. Left alone, small issues become bigger ones, and can disrupt team dynamics.  Click to read full article from source: 'Life skills' b

What it all takes to be innovative:

- An innovation is a new thing or a new method of doing something. Innovation is the introduction of new ideas, methods, or things. - Innovation is not just the generation of new ideas but being able to put them into useful practice on a daily basis. - The skills and techniques of innovative thinking are not just vital in work, but useful in everyday life as well, helping us to grow and develop. For successfully working on an innovative idea you need to have knowledge of 3 supportive areas, in addition to why-what-how of your field. a. Power (Authority) Management. b. People Management. c. Change management. The article in the below link gives a very crisp and well explained picture of innovation. How being self-aware can make you a better person:

- Self-awareness is understanding your personality, feelings, strengths, weaknesses and behaviors. - Research shows only 10-15 percent of us are really self-aware. - Studies show coworkers are much better than you at recognizing how your personality affects your performance. - Psychologists say self-awareness is a foundation to happiness and success.  - Self-awareness starts with reflection but doesn’t end there.  - Self-awareness is easier for some than others. But we can all improve.  - Highly aware people also ask “what” they can learn from the situation and “how” they can improve it. - It is also important to consider how the third person’s experiences shape the opinions of your family members or colleagues. - When you are in a 'Make Their Day' mindset, you see opportunities to lift people’s spirits you never saw before. The first step to problem solving is to believe that there is a solution:

A father left 17 Camels as an Asset for his Three Sons. When the Father passed away, his sons opened up the will. The Will of the Father stated that the Eldest son should get Half of 17 Camels, The Middle Son should be given 1/3rd of 17 Camels, Youngest Son should be given 1/9th of the 17 Camels, As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the sons started to fight with each other. So, they decided to go to a wise man. The wise man listened patiently about the Will. The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one camel of his own & added the same to 17. That increased the total to 18 camels. Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will. Half of 18 = 9. So he gave 9 camels to the eldest son. 1/3rd of 18 = 6. So he gave 6 camels to the middle son. 1/9th of 18 = 2. So he gave 2 camels to the youngest son. Now add this up: 9 + 6 + 2 = 17 & This leaves 1 camel, which the wise man took back.
