How to win people in decision making:

 - Have you come across a situation where you discuss some common challenge with your colleague and want a common decision and solution to be given. And in that process sometimes you experience difference of option leading to a conflict like situation. This happens to us in family, friends and professional life. For this we need to understand how to create win-win situation, how to use negotiation skills.  ‘The term negotiation refers to  a strategic discussion intended to resolve an issue in a way that both parties find acceptable . Negotiations involve give and take, which means one or both parties will usually need to make some concessions’. 'But we can’t just optimize for the short-term and assume that will automatically translate into long-term success. We have to be willing to do hard, laborious, ungratifying things today — the kind of things that make little sense in the short term — so we can enjoy exponential results in the future'. 'Not patient in a passive, “let things happen to you” way, but actively and vigorously patient: willing to deny yourself the easy path so you can do what’s meaningful'. The results won’t be visible tomorrow, when the difference may be imperceptible. 'But it will be in five or ten or 30 years, when you’ve created the future you’ve always wanted. Big goals often seem — and frankly, are — impossible in the short term. But with small, methodical steps, almost anyth...

Successful people don’t search for ‘Job’ but they work:

- Power of saying *YES* Cape Town's uneducated surgeon Mr. Hamilton, was awarded an honorary degree of Master of Medicine; but, he could neither read nor write - he was illiterate. Let's examine how this was possible. Cape Town Medical University is a leading university in the medical world. The world's first heart-bypass operation took place at this university. The honorary degree of Master of Medicine, was awarded to someone who had never seen the inside of a school, in his life. He could neither read an English word nor write ..... But one morning in 2003, world-renowned surgeon Professor David Dent announced in the university auditorium: "Today we are awarding an honorary degree in medicine to the man who produced the most surgeons in the world". He is an extraordinary teacher, an amazing surgeon and studied medical science and surprised the human mind. With this announcement, the professor said the name: "Hamilton" and the entire auditorium stood-up...

The art of group decision making:

 - ‘’Organizations frequently take actions in contradiction to what they really want to do and therefore defeat the very purpose they are trying to achieve”.  - If the top boss always disagrees with rest of group, then the organization will never have group giving honest opinion.  Explore the idea of ‘The Abilene Paradox’ ?
